There's something incredibly thrilling about seeing one of my works selected for a prestigious exhibition, and I'm excited to share that my fine art photograph, "Temple & Sky," was chosen for the Black and White Exhibition at Black Box Gallery in Portland, OR from August 1st - 25th, 2024. This recognition is a significant milestone for me, and it’s a great opportunity to reflect on what makes this photograph—and the monochromatic genre—so special.
The Story Behind "Temple & Sky"
As I strolled through the city center of Milan, I encountered the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and felt an immediate spark of inspiration to capture it from a fresh angle. I titled this photograph "Temple & Sky" because it frames the Galleria—the bustling heart of Milanese shopping—against a backdrop of dramatic, fluffy clouds. Using my wide-angle lens, I leaned back to capture a unique perspective of this iconic structure, emphasizing its grandeur and the expansive sky above.
By choosing black and white, I aimed to highlight the textural contrasts and the interplay of light and shadow without the distraction of color. The simplicity of the monochromatic palette allows the viewer to focus deeply on the composition and emotional resonance of the scene.

It’s a chance for me to share a piece of my vision with a wider audience, and I’m thrilled that the gallery has chosen to highlight my photograph.
